Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Taupi account or using the Taupi app or web app ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Who can use Taupi

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Taupi. The Service is currently offered primarily to residents of Latvia, though anyone may create an account.

3. What Taupi is — and isn't

Taupi is a personal finance tracking and organization tool. It imports bank statement files you provide, categorizes transactions (with AI assistance), and helps you visualize your spending.

• Taupi is not a bank and does not hold, move, or have access to your money.
• Taupi does not connect directly to your bank — you import statement files yourself.
• Taupi does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Categorization and analytics are informational only; verify important decisions with a qualified professional.
• AI-generated categorizations may be inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting them.

4. Your account

• You must provide a valid email address and keep your password confidential.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• Notify us immediately at support@taupi.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Your content and data

You retain ownership of the bank statement files and financial data you upload. By uploading them, you grant Taupi a limited license to process that data solely to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you are authorized to upload the statements you provide (e.g. they relate to your own accounts).

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload statements or data you are not authorized to access
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering or fraud
• Exceed rate limits or attempt to circumvent them

7. Pricing

Taupi is currently free to use during its early-access period. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we will announce the pricing and terms in advance, and continued use of any paid feature will require your explicit agreement at that time.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep Taupi available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features such as AI categorization depend on third-party providers and may be temporarily rate-limited or unavailable.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Security → Delete Account, which permanently removes your transactions, accounts, imports, and exports as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Taupi is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including decisions made based on categorization, analytics, or exported reports. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Latvian or EU consumer-protection law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Latvia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence within the EU.
